Description
You bought the radio. You've watched the videos. You still haven't driven to a park.
That's not an information problem. It's a sequence problem — and this is the sequence.
Seven pages, printable, written for the person whose first activation hasn't happened yet:
The Packing List — organized in reverse setup order, so the list doubles as the pack order. Unpack straight down and every item comes out exactly when you need it.
The Field Card — band-by-time-of-day guidance, the exchange word for word (including your park reference and both signal reports), and what to say when you can't copy a callsign. Print it, fold it, leave it in the bag.
"Nobody Is Answering Me" — the five-step decision tree for the worst forty minutes of a first activation. Worked in order, cheapest fix first.
The Field Log Sheet — 24 lines, row ten shaded. Paper doesn't run out of battery.
Plus a short page on what to do when you get home, so the log actually gets submitted.
What it deliberately leaves out: antenna theory, propagation science, rig comparisons. You don't need any of it to get to ten contacts. You'll want it later, and it'll make more sense once you've been on the air.
Who this isn't for: activators with thirty parks behind them. You already know all of this.
