BSA Radio Merit Badge: Sign-up

Forget the old-school crackle of static and shouting into a mic. At this workshop, we’re bringing the Radio Merit Badge into the 21st century. Scouts will spend the day learning how to build and operate a high-tech digital radio data lab.

Using modern software-defined techniques, Scouts will:

• Visualize live radio waves on a 75-inch studio studio display.
• Master digital modes (like FT8) that allow hams to communicate globally with only 5 watts of power.
• Log their own real-time contacts into an automated data-science dashboard.

By the end of the session, they will have met all official badge requirements—and walked away with a live map of the contacts they made themselves. Join us for a completely new kind of radio experience.
